Overview
The City of Mountlake Terrace is pleased that you have chosen, or are considering, our city to do business. Strengthening the economic base, enhancing quality of life, and ensuring that your experience is positive and efficient is our goal.
Conveniently Located with Many Amenities
Mountlake Terrace has a median age of 36.6 and is an attractive, affordable place to locate. We are located just 14 miles north of Seattle, along the I-5 corridor and on the King/Snohomish County line. With six distinct business-zoning districts, some with mountain and lake views, Mountlake Terrace is home to major employers, retailers and small businesses. Premera Blue Cross is the largest business with about 2,600 employees.
Here you will also find a movie theater, shops, restaurants, clinics, library and a variety of housing. The city has excellent schools, served by the Edmonds School District, and approximately 260 acres of recreational attractions including parks, play fields, a golf course, year-round swimming, a sports pavilion and public open spaces.
Ample Transit Connections
The five-story Mountlake Terrace Transit Center accommodates nearly 900 vehicles at the 236th Street SW exit from I-5. The parking garage connects via a pedestrian bridge to the Freeway Station in the median of I-5 for catching Seattle-Everett express busses operated by Sound Transit.
We are committed to promoting healthy economic development and providing jobs. Although the city has been substantially developed, there are about 254 acres of commercial and light industrial areas that provide opportunities for quality infill and redevelopment. The city is diversifying and rebuilding its Town Center economy through the Town Center Subarea Plan process. The city adopted a Sustainability Strategy providing goals to promote environmental stewardship while ensuring community livability and economic prosperity.
Our Development Services staff is available to assist you with all your business needs, whether it's land use planning, permitting, or simply needing basic information. We take pride in providing excellent customer service and invite you to contact us for all your business needs.
